"Just Evie
This book is specifically for the girls and follows a very similar format to Versions of Me.

To the world, sixteen-year-old Evie is doing just fine. She posts the right photos, smiles on cue, and carries everyone’s expectations without a word. But behind the curated filters, she is drowning in the noise of a world turned up too loud.

As shifting friendships, an intense new crush, and adult worries push her to a breaking point, Evie can no longer pretend. Raw and deeply honest, Just Evie offers an unfiltered look at modern teen life - and acts as a powerful bridge for parents and teens to start the conversations that matter most.

Early Praise

"Excellent help for giving permission to adolescents to believe in their values as they navigate their journey! This excerpt alone is very insightful: “ Belonging was not the same as performing. Confidence was not the same as impressing people. Friendship was not loyalty if it disappeared the moment you chose differently.

Coping was not letting yourself be dragged into whatever happened next because saying no felt awkward. Values, he realised, were not only things you claimed to believe.

They were the lines you were willing to draw when there was something to lose socially by drawing them.” Well done John!

Whether you are choosing it for a young reader, recommending it to families, or introducing it in a school or youth setting, Versions of Me is designed to open conversation, deepen emotional understanding, and encourage real growth.

About the Author

John spent 16 years leading a youth project in North Yorkshire, working alongside young people in schools, supporting those experiencing homelessness, and walking with individuals navigating identity, relationship, and behavioural challenges. During this time, he studied psychotherapy and began writing as a way to explore his own journey and discover how best to encourage others.

At his core, John has always held a deep desire to guide and support – finding practical ways to bring clarity to complex situations so that people can take simple, meaningful steps forward. Now in his later years, that passion remains as strong as ever, particularly as the need grows. The lingering post-pandemic effects on young people's mental health cannot be ignored, nor can the vital need to help the next generation use the digital landscape as a helpful tool rather than being consumed by it.

John strongly believes that there is immense joy to be found in discovering one’s true identity and purpose. While no journey is without its struggles, when we catch a glimpse of the light pointing the way, our spirits are lifted, and our true potential begins to emerge.
